چکیده

Abstract Achieving Zimbabwe’s national and international commitments to food systems transformation climate resilience building is of high priority. Integrated simulation-based research approaches developed under the Agricultural Model Intercomparison Improvement Project (AgMIP) are important sources evidence guide policy decisions towards sustainable intensification. Through identification economically viable, socially inclusive environmentally development pathways, analysis in this study evaluates co-benefits trade-offs between change adaptation mitigation interventions for vulnerable smallholder crop-livestock holdings semi-arid regions Zimbabwe. We explore how effects disrupt livelihoods security diverse farm types, extremely those better resource endowed but facing risks. In an iterative process with experts stakeholders, we co-developed context specific pathways. Adaptation and mitigation: trade-offs in substance and methods

Adaptation to climate change and mitigation of climate change are policy substitutes, as both reduce the impacts of climate change. Adaptation and mitigation should therefore be analysed together, as they indeed are, albeit in a rudimentary way, in cost-benefit analyses of emission abatement. However, adaptation and mitigation are done by different people operating at different spatial and temp...

Farmer Perceptions on Climate Change and Variability in Semi-arid Zimbabwe in Relation to Climatology Evidence

Farmers in semi-arid Zimbabwe prioritise climate variability as their major agricultural productivity-reducing problem. This paper raises the importance of considering local farmers’ perceptions on climate risk, as this greatly influences on-farm investments and decision-making in agricultural management and production in semiarid Zimbabwe. A study was conducted in two districts of semi-arid Zi...

Trade-offs in cervical cancer prevention: balancing benefits and risks.

BACKGROUND New screening and vaccination technologies will provide women with more options for cervical cancer prevention. Because the risk of cervical cancer diminishes with effective routine screening, women may wish to consider additional attributes, such as the likelihood of false-positive results and diagnostic procedures for mild abnormalities likely to resolve without intervention in the...
